Long Time No Post....

Hey All, I know its been awhile since my last post, but life has been soo... busy.  Since the school year has started I'm getting home at or around 4:00pm, grading papers until I get sleepy at 10:00pm, crawl into the shower and into bed for a few minutes of snuggle time with my hubby before falling asleep.  On top of teaching, one of my good friends (Alli) and I started playing on a "Women's" soccer team.  The "Women's" team we are on consists of mostly 16 - 17 year olds, a few 20 year olds, us (2 24 year olds), a 25 year old, and a 40 something year old mom whose daughter plays on the team too.

Crazy I know!!

So I haven't been able to do my nails a lot of get them done.  I was able to get a full-set a week ago and went to the worst shop in the world!!!  The guy didn't glue the tips down all the way, so I had to add superglue.  Not 3 days later, 3 of them broke and it looked like I needed a fill-in.  Luckily, I had won a premium gel kit; I fixed the broken nails and filled-in the nails that looked really bad.  Even found time to change my polish....then changed it up just a little 2 days later.  Tell me what you think!

After getting a Full-Set, I polished them because they looked so bad!

Fixed 3 and filled in some bad looking ones all by myself and polished with a slight change!!
Can you tell the difference between the pictures???

I know its been awhile.....

Hey everyone! I know its been a while since my last post, but I'm a teacher and the first week of school was last week.  Oh what a school year this will be with the special group of kids I have this year!!

Any who....Back to nails!  Like 3 weeks ago, my best friend 's(April) little sister (Shae) asked if I'd do her nails for the back to school...since she's like a little sister to me that was a no brainer!  She said she wanted a zebra/tiger stripe design using black and white, so I did a test run on a fake nail.
Test Run of Classic Zebra for Shae
So April and Shae came over last saturday for me to do Shae's nails.  BTW this is the first time I've ever done anybody else's nails over the age of 8!!!  So needless to say I was a little nervous (hands a little shaky not gonna lie.)  So I start doing her nails and get them all done and then what happens?????  Shae gets a text and messes one up!!!  So i fix it and start to apply top coat to the other nails only for me to accidentally smudge one nail, but not enough for anyone to notice!!  After all was said and done, Shae was happy and that's all that really mattered!  Tell me what you think of the end result...sorry for the quality of the picture.
How did I do???
I will try to keep posting at least once a week...pray that my students don't drive me crazy, so I can keep posting!!!

Nail Funk Finally Over!

So for the last 2 - 3 weeks my nails have been plain...not by choice, but I just haven't been inspired by anything to do my nails.  Well after starting this blog yesterday, I found more motivation!  Yayyyyyy!!!

Today, I woke up and tried to do a new design that I'd seen on another blog, but was stopped in my tracks.  I was stopped in my tracks when the polish I wanted to use (China Glaze: Turned Up Turquoise [Neon]) didn't want to work with me...I mean I opened the bottle and it was so thick it reminded me on molasses!
Luckily, I had some polish thinner and attempted to correct the situation and tried the design on fingernails molds first.  This is my attempt...
Blue and Teal with a heart and some shimmer

Now, I know it isn't horrible, but in person the finger on the right still wasn't what I had expected.  Anyway, I scraped that idea and decided to revisit a design that I had done before using my college colors.  Below is the original design
Blue and Yellow slant original
Remix of the original using the following:
  • Sally Hansen: Mint Sprint Insta-Dri
  • NK Nail Enamel:  Amarillo
  • Milani Nail Art:  Black
  • Kiss Brush-On Nail Art:  White
  • Kiss Brush-On Nail Art:  Silver Glitter
  • Sally Hansen Nail Art Pen:  Black and White
  • Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat
And here is the "ficky ficky remix" (I always wanted to be a DJ...lol)

I'm so glad to be out of a nail design funk! Now its lunch time and my leftover Chipotle is calling my name, so I'm gonna take a line from Chris Brown and say "Deuces"!

So Why am I starting a blog?

As we all can see, this is my first post on this blog.  Let's start with some reasons why I'm starting to blog...

1) I've been doing my own nail designs now for about a year and am always getting compliments, so I figured why not share my new found love with the world.

2) I'm a teacher and currently on summer vacation and am running out of things to do.

3) I look at other people's nail design/nail product blogs, so I figured there are people out there that'll look at mine too.

So today I officially start my journey as a blog writer!

This was my first attempt at my own nail designs...turned out pretty good and I got tons of compliments!

Well, be expecting more exciting designs and product reviews to come in the future!

Smooches!
